Since 2017, SMAI are proud to be the Official Strength and Conditioning Partner of the St George Illawarra Dragons. Maintaing the SMAI High Performance Centre, working together to provide elite weight training and conditioning equipment for the highest level of performance training. The Dragons player group put SMAI equipment and gear through daily back to back training sessions, testing the strength, power, agility and endurance of both the players and the equipment.
DUMBBELLS AND FREEWEIGHTS

BUMPER PLATES
"Bumper plates are used to load up the barbells, doing squats, deadlifts, bench press, bench pulls, these exercises are critically important for developing strength and power"
JERK BLOCK
"We do power lifiting in our routine and the jerk block allows us to setup the players in a safe position to start their olympic lifts and allow them to develop good technique"
PLYOMETRICS
"We use plyometrics for both the forward and back players which are certainly critically important for both groups. The plyometric box is really good for developing explosive power and its an easy piece of equipment to use in the gym"
RESISTANCE BANDS
"Resistance bands are a good peice of equipment to exercise through the range of motion of a joint, so we use them in different strategies to allow us to train those movements"
RECOVERY
"We do a lot of rolling and stretching and we use the SMAI equipment to do that. We take a good amount of time to stretch and prepare the muscles and areas we are about to train
